We are currently looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Major Infrastructure Team who are working on some exciting major infrastructure projects.

This important role will be responsible for providing varying commercial support activities for the Commercial Team, reporting directly to the Senior Quantity Surveyor.

The role will not only cover processing and providing timely commercial data but will also include analysis and reporting responsibilities.

The role will incorporate assisting and supporting the Commercial Team on a wide variety of functions relating both to commercial management and controls and the administration of commercial databases and systems.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure contract data and records are appropriately maintained and kept up to date.

  • Support the Commercial Team in tracking and reporting commercial delivery against the agreed Project baselines

  • Consistent and correct application and administration of the integrated cost systems, processes, documentation, and procedures for the allocated Project

  • Provide cost information and assist in risk-based reviews of the data to identify accuracy of costs, drive on-going compliance, and identify potential cost efficiency opportunities

  • Support the development and embedding of business plans and Project efficiency initiatives

  • Administer the Project assurance plan including coordination of stakeholder inspections, reviews, ad-hoc deep-dives and compliance reporting.

  • Assist with audits in line with the Assurance Plans in place for the Project

  • Provide support to the commercial team in administration of processing tender information, in preparation for contract drafting

  • Assist in drafting and managing low-medium value contracts to ensure contractual compliance and managing commercial risk

  • Monitor and manage contractual obligations to ensure responsibilities are discharged in prescribed timescales.

What does it take to be an Assistant Quantity Surveyor?

  • You must be on a career path to RICS Chartership or CIOB

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Commercial acumen and knowledge of commercial contracts

  • Good knowledge of the purchase to pay processes

  • Knowledge of SAP

  • Excellent MS Office application skills, particularly Excel, Word and Access

  • Experienced in the use of databases (excel/access)

  • Knowledge and experience of operating within a collaborative environment

  • Experience of a commercial/accounting environment
