Would you like to work in a role which is both meaningful and rewarding, where you really feel that you make a difference?

About Us

This is a great time to join Gloucestershire County Council, as Children’s Social Care is on an exciting journey, which focuses our approach into being more creative, strengths-based and person-centred, to ensure that we work together to ‘Make a Difference’ to our local communities.

We are an agile working organisation with a combination of office-based working and working from home (essential equipment is provided). We place a high premium on diversity and inclusion, as well as on health and wellbeing and we offer a flexible working scheme which is based on business need. We offer Continued Professional Development and will support you to develop your skills and career prospects within Children’s Services.

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for someone with a desire to learn and develop in administration, to complete their Level 3 qualification within the Children’s Social Care Business Support Team. This is a fantastic chance to gain a qualification through practical experience in a busy office environment and through spending time learning in an educational setting. Successful candidates will receive comprehensive training and development opportunities throughout their apprenticeship.

The role is based in our Stroud locality office, supporting the Stroud Children and Families Teams. You will have an opportunity to learn about different Social Care teams and the key part that our administrators play in assisting our Social Care professionals to support vulnerable children and families in Gloucestershire.

In addition to studying for your NVQ your duties will include:-

· Dealing with telephone enquiries, taking messages and alerting Social Work staff

· Preparing documents using Microsoft Word

· Updating spreadsheets using Excel

· Booking meetings using Microsoft Teams and our internal room booking system

· Uploading documents to our bespoke database Liquid Logic (training will be provided)

· Use of a range of IT software systems

About You

We are looking for candidates who are keen to develop their skills in administration and contribute to a more innovative way of working. You must, therefore, be adaptable, have excellent communication skills and have the ability to prioritise workload. If you think that this is the role for you we look forward to hearing from you. Why are you perfect for this role and what will you bring to our team?

In return we will offer you:

· Regular formal and informal support.

· Safe, supportive and positive working environment with regular, robust supervision.

· Access to relevant training and career progression.

· Annual leave of 25.5 days (pro rata) up to 30.5 days (pro rata) after 5 years employment.

· Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.

· Staff discount scheme that offers access to great savings including discounts with major supermarket chains and high street retailers.

· Access to our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) that provides free, confidential, counselling and advice for employees, available 24 hours a day, online and by telephone.

· Cycle to Work scheme.

· Links to employee networks such as Prism (LGBT+) network and the Young Employees Network.

· Gloucestershire Salary Sacrifice Green Car Scheme (T&C’s apply).

Working in Children’s Social Care does require an applicant who can be proactive or responsive to changing demands and resilient to some of the tough emotional content of the role. However, it is also a role that can bring great reward and job satisfaction.
