Location: Flexible (must be able to travel to offices in Warrington, Carlisle, and Crewe)

Nuclear Transport Solutions (NTS) is looking for an exceptional Commercial Director to join our Executive team and lead the commercial strategy for one of the UK’s most critical organisations. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of a business that plays a vital role in the safe and secure transport of nuclear materials worldwide.

About the Role

As Commercial Director, you will be responsible for all commercial activity across NTS, including business development, contract management, procurement, and supply chain. Working closely with the CEO and Strategy Director, you will set and deliver the long-term commercial strategy for NTS, ensuring alignment with our vision and mission.

Your remit will span key customer portfolios:

  • NDA Group & UK Government
  • Civil/Military Defence
  • Japan and international markets

You will manage senior relationships with UK and global customers, governments, and supply chain partners, and oversee our critical customer liaison office in Japan. This is a high-profile role requiring strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and the ability to influence at the highest level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop NTS’s commercial capabilities, building a strong talent pipeline and enabling cross-business collaboration.
  • Negotiate and manage complex, high-value contracts with public and private sector organisations.
  • Drive business development and identify new opportunities for growth across global markets.
  • Ensure robust risk management and compliance with delegated financial authority.
  • Represent NTS at Board level and contribute to strategic decision-making.

What We’re Looking For

  • Significant experience in senior commercial leadership roles.
  • Expertise in contract negotiation and management of complex, high-value agreements.
  • Strong strategic and financial acumen, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly across our UK offices and internationally.

Knowledge of the nuclear, rail, or shipping sectors is desirable but not essential.
