Job Purpose and Summary
This role relates to the provision of field service and support to High Volume Inkjet/Toner devices in Durban metropole with the need to travel to Regions, Cape Town and Gauteng when required in addition to supporting sites based in the SADC regions when required. The product portfolio consists of 2 different print technologies using either inkjet or toner. The customer solution is complemented by third party machines, such as cutters, stackers, folders, and stitches to deliver a total end to end print line driven by high end servers and customized software. As a High Volume Inkjet/Toner Engineer you will be part of a team who will be servicing, maintaining, and optimizing award winning Canon mono and color production Print devices for our customers. What we give
- The provision of field-based service and support to Canon Production Print customers
- Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and resolves common technical problems.
- Maintains records and reports reoccurring problems. Trains and assists customers in product implementation, operation, and maintenance.
- Understanding of escalation processes including the ability to accurately collate and report essential information.
- 3rd party advanced finishing (Bourg, Hunkler.IBIS etc.)
- Provide remote call assistance to clients when required
- Able to demonstrate the ability to resolve complex problems outside of the normal fault-finding process
- Identifies device / individual performance improvement and supports with any technical
- Willing to work standby & overtime when required
- Travel-50% (Passport Essential)
- Responds to inquiries and requests from customers.
- Participates in analysis of customer identified issues which may require changes to software/hardware, procedures, or documentation.
- Manage and control spare part usage and cost associated with spare parts
- Acts as local technical escalation point
- Participate and provide input in monthly internal production meetings with technical leads and Engineers from various regions.
- Trained on the full Toner and Ink product ranges essential
- Takes lead on major installs and projects in conjunction with key stake holders
- Experience in project and support for large installations
- Able to take and interpreting data and machine traces
- Completion and understanding of Customer Expectations documentation
- Ability to work unsupervised and under pressure
- Site responsibility duties where applicable
What we ask
- Formal Electro-Mechanical Engineering/technical qualifications
- Extensive experience of the service of Industrial/Production Print equipment in the customer production environment is essential. (Minimum 5 years)
- Experience in understanding and following health and safety guidelines
- Understanding of escalation processes including the ability to accurately collate and report essential information on country level as well as Escalation process to Canon Europe when required
