Job Purpose and Summary
The Governance and Best Practices Senior Manager will be responsible for the ‘PMO – Governance & Best Practices’ team.
This team ensures a comprehensive, efficient, effective and transparent way of working for change delivery (of all sizes) that embeds the right amount of (quality) controls to ensure predictive, compliant, qualitative and cost effective delivery of change for both Solution & Adoption Division , Program & Projects Division, and DRONE Team to make sure of all program and project delivery against the agreed scope, on time and within budget following a quality framework.
It includes reviewing and merging the current Ways of Working. Bringing it to a single framework, recognizing different sizes, content and maturity for various deliveries. This framework will be owned by this team.
Together with the other PMO team (focussed on day 2 day project management) projects are coached, supported and controlled to ensure the right methodology is applied and lessons learned (including proven ‘plan snippets’) are applied in order to maximize the use of ‘power of repeat’ across seemingly different projects.

As a Governance and Best Practices Senior Manager, you will:
- Own the Canon IT Delivery Way of Working.
- Review and merge the existing Ways of Working into one single framework and adjust this forward as needed to ensure continued improvement based on program/project/change lessons learned.
- Create a repository for the project planning practices & snippets. Making it available and easily navigable for project teams
- Create, maintain and distil best practice plan snippets, planning guidelines and tools, pre-aligned with respective stakeholders.
- Create and maintain a project plan repository, including original plan and actuals. With the purpose to distil best practice plan snippets, planning guidelines and tools.
- Provide overall management support for the P&P Director, focussed on tactical/strategic view.
- Support project & program managers in the original creation of their project plans.
- Create initial project plan and quality plan, based on the input & understanding delivered by the respective program & project managers. Incorporating input from vendors as provided by the program & project managers.
- On an exceptional basis join project planning meeting, including vendors, providing expert advise on plan (snippets) & best practices.
- Challenge projects plans (for key projects) for completeness.
- Challenge workload estimates (for key projects) for accuracy.
- Evangelize, coach and train teams on the usage of the Way of Working.
- Own key steering committee meeting preparations.
- Manage the Governance & Best Practices team
What we ask
- Project & program planning skills
- The ability to distil practical best practices
- Understanding of global standards of project methodologies, such as Prince2
- Thorough understanding of IT project planning
- Thorough experience in various project planning tooling (incl MS project, Excel)
- Technical skills to carve out required supporting tooling using eg Sharepoint
- Good understanding of end 2 end project components, able to challenge for missing elements.
- Broad experience in IT delivery & implementation projects
- Experience in waterfall & agile project delivery
- Proven expertise in setting up efficient, delivering, teams
