Job Purpose and Summary

Canon EMEA are looking for an IP Administrator to join on a 6 month fixed term contract, and provide essential support to our IP Team. You may have experience working as a legal administrator or legal support assistant.

In this role as IP Administrator you will handle a full range of patent formalities which will include preparing and filing documents as well as diary management responsibilities to ensure the timely and efficient management of cases.

Our Intellectual Property team are based at our state-of-the-art EMEA HQ in Uxbridge (Hybrid working – on average 3 days per week in the office), which is easily reached via the Elizabeth Line, with subsidised restaurant & Costa Coffee and free parking onsite.

Flexible / part time hours can be taken into consideration.

In addition to a salary of between £29,172 – £34,320pa depending on experience, you'll be eligible for a performance-based bonus of 10%. What we ask

This role will expose you to a variety of activities, including:

  • Setting up records of intellectual property, both manually and on the records management system, maintaining this throughout the life of each item.
  • Issuing reminders and reviews to ensure that the decisions required to safeguard the property are made in a timely manner and in accordance with legal obligations and requirements.
  • Forwarding reports/documents to clients via the document exchange system.
  • Paying and instructing payment of all application, prosecution and renewal fees and invoices.
  • Noting from incoming communications, action dates on specific cases and then following routine departmental procedure for distribution of case files and reminders.
  • Supporting other IP matters as required.
  • General administrative tasks.

Further information

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous legal support experience.
  • Potentially have exposure to IP (desirable). CIPA Qualification is preferred but not essential.
  • Be proactive, with a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Have strong organisation skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Be able to work under pressure with the ability to work within a team, and also independently.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with a diverse group of people.
