We are looking to recruit a passionate and enthusiastic individual to provide support to the Adult Social Care directorate’s Transformation Programme.

This is fast paced but rewarding opportunity for someone with experience of working in a programme and project environment, ideally with an understanding of the challenges and issues facing Adult Social Care. A good communicator with effective administrative and organisational skills, you will be confident in working with colleagues across a variety of directorates including Adults Transformation Lead, the Adult Social Care directorate’s management team and project leads as well as the Programme Management Office, Finance, Commissioning and Data Analytics teams in what is a dynamic and high-profile working environment. You will need to be a self-starter and be able to manage competing priorities and deliver effectively.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to help support the work of the local authority Adult Social Care directorate on its transformation journey. As with many other authorities in England, Middlesbrough is operating in a difficult and uncertain environment and a complex service delivery landscape. Moreover, Middlesbrough faces unique challenges of acute poverty and inequality, often ranking among the top five in statistics but for the wrong reasons. The council continues to feel the ripple effects of unprecedented economic events, like the COVID-19 pandemic – with growing demand for services, increasing cost of goods and services, and increasing complexity of community support needs. Adult Social Care, which helps people who are older or living with disability or physical or mental illness to live as independently as possible and to stay safe and well, is one of the biggest drivers of financial pressure with local government, with Middlesbrough Council being no different.

The Adult Social Care transformation programme is structured around:

  • Prevention with a focus on independence and wellbeing.
  • Supporting recovery, maximising independence, and assessing at the right time and in the right place.
  • Support at home and in the community.
  • Doing the right things well
  • Ensuring in all our decision making and support that every penny counts.

This role is key to ensuring compliance with the reporting requirements of the council’s transformation governance framework. You will assist and support the management and delivery of the transformation projects within Adult Social Care, playing a key role reporting on the progress of the transformation projects. You will work closely with the Transformation Lead, the directorate’s management team, project leads as well as the Programme Management Office, Finance, Commissioning and Data Analytics teams.

Working for Middlesbrough Council, you will benefit from working flexibly with a blended working from home / central town office base. Working agile, with a focus on outcomes you will need to work on your own initiative to support the Adult Social Care Transformation Lead, Heads of Service and Directorate Management Team.
