Job Title: SCADA Engineer

£45k – £50k, salary depending on skills and experience

12-month fixed-term contract

Hybrid role, working from Huntingdon or Lincoln

Anglian Water offers a flexible approach, this role provides you the flexibility to work from home and from an Anglian Water office. Your base location will be in ether Huntingdon or Lincoln, depending on your location.

The SCADA Engineer will help lead on Anglian Water’s integration of Ignition into the business. They will play a key role in the design, build and maintenance of our Ignition environments. A senior role in both engineering delivery and technical leadership, the SCADA Engineer will provide clear and consistent leadership on behalf of OT to a range of products and business colleagues, ensuring that what is delivered and developed is both fit for purpose and value adding.

The role holder will be expected to have comprehensive technical understanding of SCADA systems, cloud platforms and wider software development skills. (E.g Dev Ops SQL and Python) combined with wider OT experience, (E.g. IEC61131 GeoSCADA, MQTT, OPC UA) These skills will all help determine how the future Enterprise SCADA service line needs to develop in order to maximise benefit and provide a resilient service.

Strong communication skills will be key as you will be continuously engaging with key stakeholders and colleagues throughout the Ignition project space, working collaboratively for a united outcome. As part of these essential skills you will be required to make decisions that will impact business critical processes, and therefore be required to take reactive and pro-active accountability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work with the Ignition programme Team and senior business stakeholders to support and deliver Ignition SCADA projects, ensuring project deliverables and outcomes are fully integrated into OT capability.

  • Work closely OT Architects and OT Leadership team to ensure successful delivery of the Ignition-based projects.

  • Work closely with delivery partners to ensure new software has been fully tested and approved before deployment.

  • Undertake reactive and pro-active business critical decision making whilst ensuring all decision are made in line with our OT standards & governances.

  • Undertake the review and approval of third-party technical documentation and designs relating to the delivery of projects.

  • Work with the wider OT BAU support functions to ensure the upskilling and integration of ignition into the Enterprise SCADA service line are delivered with minimal downtime and operational impact.

What does it take to be a SCADA Engineer?

  • Industry experience of engineering, implementing, and maintaining SCADA systems

  • Understanding of OT architectural principles and practice

  • Sound technical understanding of OT architectures, experience in the application of PLC, SCADA and software

  • Demonstrable experience advanced OT system configuration and systems

  • Track record in the design, and analysis of OT/telemetry hardware/software solutions, programmes, and projects

  • Proven troubleshooting skills with an ability to demonstrate methodical approaches to problem solving

  • Ability to practically apply skills and experience in Ignition, Python, SQL and Azure.

  • Ability to write clear, concise, accurate engineering & design specifications with measurable outputs.

  • Experiencing of managing IT/OT risks and controls

  • Experienced in documentation control to recognised industry standards.
