Social Media Lead (12 Month Fixed Term Contract) – London 

Overview of team purpose
Creative Services is a dedicated delivery team providing high-quality content, design and social media that inspires and engages both business and consumer audiences. Our designers, content producers and social media experts work collaboratively across the organisation. We support London & Partners’ priorities through a diverse range of channels, projects, campaigns and brands. By delivering audience-first solutions backed by insights and data, we bring our brands to life, ensuring our output inspires our audiences to choose London and London & Partners’ services.
 
 
Purpose of role
To drive social media strategy, planning and reporting. To oversee efficient delivery, supported by a team of three in-house social media experts and a roster of freelance specialists. 
 
To capture the imagination of audiences, stakeholders and partners with world-class social media marketing. To ensure social media reaches and influences target audiences to choose London & Partners across business and consumer channels, paid and organic. 
 
To ensure social media delivers the maximum value to London & Partners, contributing to the generation of GVA and revenue, supporting partners and stakeholders and ensuring innovation and the health of our channels. 
 
To work closely with in-house teams (design, content, marketing) and a Resource Manager, to ensure the right resources are deployed at the right time in line with business priorities.

 

Key Tasks 

  • Lead and develop a delivery team of in-house social media specialists and oversee freelance content creators and paid social specialists
  • Responsible for owned social media channel strategy, outcomes and targets 
  • Define social media strategies and integrated marketing plans working with the Head of Creative Services and Visit London Growth, marketing and corporate comms teams
  • Work closely with Consumer Marketing team and relevant agencies to refine the social media strategy for multi-million-pound advertising campaigns
  • Lead on target setting, analytics, insights, reporting and social listening
  • Finance management including forecasting throughout the year for paid media spend, social media tools, social media equipment and social media freelancers
  • Embrace innovation ensuring owned channels and content evolve to delight and engage target audiences
  • Contribute to, and validate, new project briefs​ and plans
  • Define and oversee planning and delivery to a high standard including content selection and community engagement
  • Develop in-house paid campaign strategy for Grow London Local (budget c. £125k)
  • Lead on social tools procurement​ and usage
  • Own social media policies, guidelines and channel access/set up
  • Work with the Resource Manager and Social Media Manager to put in place additional freelance or agency support when required
  • Lead on external stakeholder relations and be the primary expert in social media for the organisation ​
  • Deliver training and guidance to internal teams
  • Work closely with the Communication team during crisis response, following set protocols and ensuring adequate cover is in place
  • Hands-on delivery when there is capacity and need
  • Any other tasks reasonably allocated by line manager

 

You’ll have/bring 

  • People leadership skills
  • Budget management
  • Social media strategy development and delivery, based on robust insights and data 
  • Extensive experience shaping and managing successful social media marketing and leading a team
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and social media tools such as Hootsuite
  • Copywriting and exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong experience in shaping and overseeing the delivery of video and image content
  • Ability to work positively and collaboratively with internal clients, stakeholders, partners, agencies, third-party suppliers etc.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and strong personal network of contacts
  • Excellent organisational skills and a track record of delivering on time and to budget
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to present at events and to network  
  • Committed to continuous learning and evolving with industry best practice
  • Takes responsibility and ownership of project tasks, continuously aiming to improve own performance
  • Understanding of copyright and GDPR law and experience in asset commissioning and rights management   
  • Strong background in paid social skills across Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, X, and YouTube
  • Experience with data visualisation tools (Looker Studio, PowerBI, etc.) and marketing intelligence platforms (Supermetrics, etc.) is desirable
  • Chinese social media knowledge is a bonus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office especially PowerPoint, Excel and Word
