Salary: £23114 – £24294 pa plus weekend increment

Shift hours: 37

As Streetpride Operative, you will be working as part of a team, you will support the maintenance and improvement of streets, neighbourhoods, parks, and open spaces by undertaking a range of street cleansing and grounds maintenance activities and ensuring all work is carried out under the appropriate Safe Systems of Work.

The main duty of this role involves driving and operating a mechanical Pavement Sweeper for which either a pre-1997 driving licence or a class C entitlement is required. CPC is desirable however training will be provided for the right candidate. 

Working Hours: Thursday to Monday 5 am until 1 pm working every weekend which attracts an additional weekend pay increment.

Other duties will include the below however please read the Job Description & Person Specification for more details. 

  • sweeping streets, emptying bins
  • litter picking areas
  • removal of dead animals and undesirable waste e.g. dog fouling
  • collection of flytipping 
  • small scale graffiti removal

The successful candidate will:

  • be reliable and committed
  • have a professional attitude and are willing to take on the tasks and duties within the remit of the role and service area
  • be physically fit and able to walk for long periods and work in all weather conditions
  • able to undertake a range of various labouring tasks involving bending, pulling, and lifting.
  • customer-focused and able to remain respectful, calm, and polite in environments where they may experience challenging behaviours or situations when assisting the general public and customers by responding to minor queries and complaints
  • confident to take appropriate action to avoid formal complaints.

In addition, you should have:

  • Knowledge of Health and safety in the workplace (incl. PPE)
  • Ability to operate basic hand and power tools
  • Able to work flexibly across any shift if necessary with notice given
  • A minimum of a pre-97 or Category C manual driving licence
  • CPC training is desirable but not essential as training will be given to the right candidate
