Could you be a Sense Support Worker?

It's an exciting time as Sense has just released its new strategy, we now have an opportunity for a Support Worker to join our service in Edgbaston, Birmingham. 

This is a permanent role, with the option of working either 30 and 37.5 hours per week.

You will join our fantastic team here at Edgbaston where you will be supported and able to grow and develop within your role. This is a residential service and you will support 5 male individuals who are deafblind and have complex needs aged 18-65. The role requires hands on support and personal care. You should be confident in supporting the 5 individuals with therapeutic activities such as days out and cycling. We are an active bunch who love to go for walks. This role really gives you an opportunity to develop new or use existing skills.

The duties are varied and no two days will be the same. The people we support are individuals and they are all treated as such. As a general guide, you may support with personal care needs, as well as help to take part in a wide range of special interests and activities that support their health and wellbeing.

Your duties can include:

  • To support individuals / groups within the home, centre and community.
  • To provide a customised, responsive and high quality service to people with multiple sensory impairments, physical and/or learning disabilities who use Sense services.
  • To deliver services which meet or exceed organisational expectations and standards.

Your required skills and experiences:

  • This role would suit a male or female candidate however, the successful candidate would be required to support 5 male individuals.
  • Having a full manual UK license and the willingness to drive is desirable.
  • You don’t need to have previous experience in this field, nor do you need qualifications – we’re happy to work with you to help you become an excellent support worker. 
  • Knowledge of multi sensory impairments / learning difficullties is beneficial.
