Employee Relations Manager – 3 month FTC – Fixed Term – Full Time

We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Employee Relations Manager to join our People and Culture Team at a key point of organisational growth and development. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong ER background who thrives on building consistency, supporting others, and improving processes to deliver excellent people outcomes. This is a fixed term contract for a minimum of 3 months, based on a hybrid basis 2/3 days a week from our Selly oak, Birmingham office.

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing expert ER support and oversight across complex case management, working closely with our Head of People Partnering, People Partners, and HR Advisors.
  • Ensuring consistency in ER advice and process by developing clear casework guidance, templates, and process maps.
  • Taking the lead on key and high-risk ER cases and offering backfill support when needed.
  • Supporting the development of high-quality HR data and reporting to inform strategic decisions and strengthen the People Partnering approach.
  • Reviewing and improving key family-friendly policies and processes (e.g., maternity, paternity, neonatal), working collaboratively with the Payroll team.
  • Contributing to organisation-wide projects, including:
    • Job Evaluation and benchmarking
    • Occupational Health process development
    • Full review and update of HR policies and procedures

What you’ll bring

  • A strong background in employee relations, with hands-on experience managing complex and high-volume casework.
  • Proven ability to develop consistent ER processes and provide clear, pragmatic advice.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK employment law and best practice.
  • Experience handling sensitive information and managing workplace conflict with professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to build trusted relationships across all levels.
  • A collaborative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and data-informed decision making.
