Lead BI Analyst – Halifax

In this role, you’ll be working in a team that helps our colleagues make informed decisions, by providing reliable, accurate and timely MI, Analytics & Insights that meets their needs and helps drive value using data.

This role is based on site at our Halifax office. We believe that working together in person fosters stronger collaboration, deeper engagement, and supports your professional growth!

What does a day-to-day look like?

  • Act as Power BI technical lead, overseeing infrastructure, report publishing, and service management to support high-performance business reporting.
  • Collaborate with key business functions (Claims, Personal & Commercial Lines, Distribution) to understand BI needs and deliver tailored, effective solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, consulting on technical requirements and driving the development of fit-for-purpose reporting tools.
  • Promote self-serve reporting adoption, supporting users in dashboard interpretation and continuously improving efficiency through Power BI rollout.
  • Define and uphold BI best practices, standards, and guidelines, mentoring analysts and providing expert knowledge on Power BI visualisations.
  • Support data governance efforts, documenting data quality, flows, and lineage to enable transparency and foster a self-serve data culture.
  • Contribute to product backlog management, working with the Business Reporting Manager to prioritise delivery of key data products.
  • Lead and mentor the technical delivery team, providing training and support to colleagues and stakeholders across the business.

What will help you stand out?

  • Expertise in BI solution architecture, Power BI Service setup, and application of AD groups, with hands-on experience in BI and data warehousing environments.
  • Proficiency in multiple BI tools, including Power BI, Business Objects, QlikView, SSRS, and skills in querying languages such as SQL and DAX.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional data modelling, software development lifecycle, and Agile methodologies.
  • Skills in designing impactful dashboards and visualisations, translating complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Effective communicator and collaborator, able to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across technical and business teams.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, proactively enhancing BI service quality and promoting best practices across the organisation.
  • Supportive team member and mentor, contributing to a collaborative learning environment and sharing expertise within the analyst community.
  • Naturally inquisitive and data-driven, with a passion for uncovering insights and driving value through data.
  • Organised and adaptable, capable of managing multiple priorities with autonomy and accountability.
  • Actively engaged in team culture, participating in professional development activities and embodying company values.

Up to £57,000 (Dependent on Experience)
