Purpose
Main duties and responsibilities
De Montfort University (DMU) is an ambitious, globally minded institution with a strong focus on delivering quality teaching and learning and a campus-wide focus on providing a sector-leading student experience. As a culturally rich university with a deep commitment to the public good, the DMU community strives to maintain a stimulating and inclusive environment where staff and students can thrive. The University prides itself as being a vibrant, multicultural hub of learning, creativity and innovation.
Role
This role is a key part of our small and friendly team, delivering the University’s fundraising and alumni activity.
The postholder will lead our donor stewardship work, ensuring donors feel valued, informed, and connected to the impact of their support. This includes planning how we thank donors, share impact, and build long-term relationships that support future major gifts. This will include a mix of planning events, producing reports and meeting donors in person.
As well as leading on stewardship, there will also be opportunities to work and lead on projects involving regular giving, corporate support, and helping develop and implement a legacy strategy.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be organised, collaborative, and proactive. They will have strong communication skills and be comfortable working with a wide range of people across the University, including academics, and with donors and alumni.
They will understand good donor or customer care and be confident using data and databases (we use alumni database Raiser’s Edge), to manage relationships and measure success.
Experience in donor stewardship, fundraising, alumni engagement, or a related field would be beneficial, but not essential. Given the importance for the role of supporting regular giving and sponsorship, they should be comfortable with making direct asks for funding!
