Ruminant Sales Specialist – United Kingdom

Job Title: Ruminant Sales Specialist

Location: Hybrid, UK

Contract type and shift: Permanent, Monday – Friday – 37.5 hours per week

Package includes Salary from £50,000 plus a benefits package designed to support your wellbeing and reward your impact, including performance related bonus, car allowance, private healthcare, and a matched pension contribution of up to 10%

At KW, customer experience sits at the heart of everything we do. As part of the wider Asterra Group, we’re proud to be one of the most progressive and forward-thinking feed businesses in the UK, combining national reach with genuine on-farm relationships.

We are on the lookout for a KW On-Farm Sales Specialist to join our supportive and motivated sales team. This is a field-based role, working directly with dairy and beef farmers to deliver practical, credible solutions that help their businesses perform and thrive.

What makes this role different is that we’re versatile in our approach to background. If you bring previous experience in agricultural sales or on-farm operations, that’s great. If you do not have prior experience in agricultural sales or on-farm operations but can demonstrate a solid work ethic, curiosity about business practices in agriculture, and the tenacity required for a field-based sales role, we encourage your application.

The Role

Partnering with peers at KW and the extended Asterra business, you will take charge of a regional sales ledger, cultivating long-lasting, dependable relationships with farmers as you fulfill specified commercial targets.

You will design and implement a comprehensive sales strategy tailored to the region, demonstrating the Asterra model in agricultural settings. Supported by technical, nutrition, customer service and marketing teams, you’ll offer tailored solutions rather than “off-the-shelf” products – always putting the customer first.

This position involves a high level of initiative and personal responsibility. You’ll spend most of your time on farm, managing your own diary, spotting opportunities, and representing KW professionally within your territory and beyond.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Building and managing a portfolio of dairy and beef customers, developing lasting, long-term relationships
  • Delivering against budget and contributing to the wider national sales plan
  • Creating and maintaining a strategic regional sales plan
  • Identifying new opportunities and feeding insight back into the wider business
  • Promoting the full KW / AB Agri ruminant offering, matching solutions to individual farm needs
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders across sales, technical, nutrition, marketing and customer service
  • Maintaining accurate CRM records to support effective customer service
  • Representing KW at farm visits, meetings, and relevant industry events

Who We’re Looking For:

We’re deliberately open to two types of candidates:

Experienced Professionals:

You may already be working in agricultural or D2F sales, with:

  • Advanced solution-based selling skills
  • Good commercial and numerical awareness
  • Credibility on farm and confidence engaging with farmers
  • An understanding of the key drivers of the UK ruminant sector
  • An existing network within your region (desirable, not essential)

Emerging Professionals

You may not come from agriculture, but you can clearly demonstrate:

  • Demonstrated work ethic, professional approach, and self-motivation
  • Robust experience in customer engagement or consultative sales
  • The capacity to absorb new information efficiently and inquire thoughtfully
  • Comfort working with numbers, prices and margins
  • A realistic understanding that salary will reflect experience, with progression as capability develops
  • A genuine interest in agriculture and willingness to build technical knowledge over time

Full technical training and ongoing support will be provided – what matters most is attitude, drive and commitment.

Practical Details:

  • Field-based role with regular UK travel
  • Full UK driving licence required
  • Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm (with flexibility inherent in on-farm work)
  • Budget responsibility for your own ledger
