Content Lead (12 Month Fixed Term Contract) – London 

Overview of team purpose
Creative Services is a dedicated delivery team providing high-quality content, design and social media that inspires and engages both business and consumer audiences. Our designers, content producers and social media experts work collaboratively across the organisation. We support London & Partners’ priorities through a diverse range of channels, projects, campaigns and brands. Purpose of role

To inspire and manage a talented content team in order to deliver quality content for business, corporate and consumer audiences. Shape and deliver the strategies and activity plans defined by the Director of Digital Services and Head of Creative Services across our portfolio of brands including Visit London, Grow London and Grow London Local. You are responsible for developing and implementing content strategy processes, including delivery roadmaps, company style guides and best-practice ways of working.

Hands-on content analysis, creation and quality assurance with a focus on website, email and marketing collateral content. To manage content delivery in an adaptable, positive way; solving problems and communicating clearly. 

 

Key Tasks 

  • Lead the team to create rich content which engages target audiences and influences them to choose London. This includes marketing, campaign, editorial, SEO and brand-focused content for business, corporate and consumer audiences.
  • Plan, manage and prioritise team workload to ensure delivery of content to a high standard in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate closely with SEO and Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) specialists to align content strategy with best practices, ensuring that all content is optimised for search engines and contributes to overall organic growth goals.
  • Develop, implement and champion content strategy, ensuring alignment with company goals, audience needs and best-practice guidelines.
  • Ensure all content created – whether in-house or outsourced – meets high standards and supports the content strategy and brand vision.
  • Content creation and maintenance – both planning and hands-on delivery using CMS and database.
  • Contribute resources and expertise to the Visit London Growth team to maximise ecommerce and other revenue streams currently in development.
  • Contribute to the scoping and delivery of projects.
  • Nurture efficient and collaborative matrix working across the team and beyond.
  • Take responsibility and ownership of project tasks, continuously aiming to improve own performance.
  • Equip your team with the right insights, tools and processes.
  • Contribute to the selection, and oversee the use, of content management systems and databases, ensuring that website content production is effective and efficient.
  • Ensure your team is up to date with relevant strategic priorities, best practice and legal requirements (SEO/GEO, accessibility, copyright law etc).
  • Source and manage freelance and agency support including translation agencies working closely with the Marketing Resource Manager.
  • Budget management.
  • Any other reasonable duties as allocated by the line manager.

 

You’ll have/bring 

  • Content strategy, planning, delivery and optimisation covering B2B and B2C content and channels.
  • Customer first and data led, using audience data and analytics to inform activity and achieve goals.
  • Team development and line management skills.
  • Excellent editorial and data management skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Website content management system (preferably Sitecore) and database experience.
  • Extensive experience of sub-editing, ensuring final QA across all forms of content. 
  • Extensive knowledge of best practice and industry trends, including SEO, GEO and emerging AI tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Analytics 4 and ability to analyse a range of data to self-serve, monitor performance, identify content opportunities and report on performance.
  • Strong planning and project management skills and experience of delivering content to a brief for a range of channels, plus internal and external projects, and campaigns. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working in an agile marketing environment and as part of project teams.
  • Experience working collaboratively with internal clients, stakeholders, partners, agencies, third-party suppliers etc.
