CL BSc Business Computing – London

Our University

Ravensbourne University London is a dynamic institution at the intersection of creativity, business, and technology. Based in London’s Design District in the heart of North Greenwich, we are home to a diverse, global community in one of the world’s most vibrant business and creative hubs.

The Role

As Course Leader for BSc Business Computing, you will provide academic leadership for a programme focused on the application of computing, data, and digital systems within business and organisational contexts. The role is concerned with how computing technologies enable business processes, decision-making, and digital transformation, rather than the operational management of IT services.

You will lead the academic direction of the programme and its teaching team, ensuring high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment aligned with industry practice, academic standards, and institutional priorities. You will oversee curriculum design, delivery, and enhancement, ensuring content remains current, applied, and relevant to employer needs.

You will deliver excellent teaching and create engaging, practice-informed learning experiences that integrate software systems, data, and digital tools to address real-world business problems. You will drive curriculum innovation in areas such as business information systems, data-driven decision-making, enterprise and digital platforms, and emerging technologies.

The role includes line management of a small teaching team, collaboration with colleagues across the department and professional services, and active engagement with industry partners to embed employability, live briefs, and professional practice within the curriculum.

The Candidate

You will have a strong academic and professional background in Business Computing or a closely related discipline, with expertise in the application of computing technologies within business environments.

You will demonstrate subject knowledge across areas such as business information systems, software and digital platforms, data and analytics, and the use of computing to support business processes and organisational decision-making. Your expertise will be grounded in contemporary industry practice and informed by an understanding of emerging digital technologies.

You will have experience of course leadership or programme coordination, including curriculum design, assessment, quality assurance, and student support. You will be confident in delivering applied teaching and in embedding employability, professional practice, and industry-relevant learning within the curriculum.

You will demonstrate effective academic leadership, including mentoring and supporting staff, driving teaching innovation, and contributing to recruitment, retention, and positive student outcomes. You will be collaborative, well organised, and outcome-focused, with a clear understanding of the evolving role of Business Computing within organisations.

While not essential, a PhD and a credible research or knowledge-exchange profile are strongly preferred.
