About the role
The Health and Safety Manager will support the Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager with implementing, maintaining, and enhancing Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs across the facility. This role contributes to regulatory compliance efforts, leads incident investigations, supports corrective action management, and partners with cross‑functional teams to improve site safety performance.
This position includes direct supervision of EHS team members and is responsible for coaching, developing, and mentoring EHS Specialists and EHS Coordinators to build capability and ensure consistent execution of site EHS programs.
Your responsibilities
- Provide direct leadership, coaching, and development to EHS Specialists and EHS Coordinators to ensure strong team performance and professional growth.
- Support the implementation, coordination, and continuous improvement of site EHS programs, policies, and procedures.
- Manage the incident reporting and investigation process, including leading root cause analyses and developing effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Track all corrective actions through completion, ensuring timely closure and accurate documentation.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and assessments to identify compliance gaps and opportunities for improvement across EHS programs.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional partners to assign, track, and verify completion of action items addressing identified risks or deficiencies.
- Assist site with ensuring adherence to applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
- Support site safety initiatives, training programs, and communications to promote a strong safety culture.
- Prepare, maintain, and submit EHS records, reports, and documentation required by internal standards and regulatory agencies.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities aimed at reducing operational risks and enhancing overall EHS performance.
The experience we're looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 8+ years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing or chemical/industrial environments, including people leadership responsibility.
- CSP, CIH, CHMM, or other relevant certifications preferred.
- Demonstrated success leading teams, building capability, and driving culture change and accountability.
- Deep working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable state/local regulations; experience with audit programs and regulatory inspections.
- Proficiency with EHS management systems, risk assessment methodologies, and incident/root cause frameworks.
- Strong executive presence, influence skills, and data‑driven decision‑making; excellent written and verbal communication.
