Overview
Maintenance Manager – Kettering, Northamptonshire
- As Engineering Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team forward to plan and shape the Engineering & Facility Maintenance department of the future.
- This is a full-time role, however flexibility in this will be considered

Main Responsibilities
Develop & Manage the Maintenance Systems
- Responsible for the development, implementation and on-going management of the CMMS across site. Builds detailed prioritised work plans to maximise value added time of engineering resource, ensures all materials and skills are available for scheduled work. Ensures work plans are coordinated with production schedules.
Supports Management of the Engineering Team
- Supports the Engineering Manager with day-to-day management of the Engineering team, including setting out daily & weekly work plans, reporting on under delivery of set work plans, feeds into PDR’s as requested, supports coaching & mentoring and recruitment.
Engineering Stores
- Manages the Engineering stores & replenishment cycle through CMMS. Ensures stocks are regularly reviewed for correct min/max levels, looking for opportunities to reduce unnecessary stock holding whilst ensuring critical spares availability.
Maintenance Strategy
- Develops detailed maintenance SOP’s, driven by criticality assessment, with defined pass fail inspection criteria with appropriate frequency. Utilising CMMS & purchasing systems, develops and maintains Key Performance Indicators and monitors budgets, producing department reports as required. Supports Root Cause analysis of failures, improves systems with new learning’s.
Department Development
- Assist the Engineering Manager in developing the Engineering business plan and support development of Engineering resource capability. Deputise for Engineering Manager as required.
Managing Systems and Documentation to Ensure Legal Compliance
- Ensures good record keeping for all planned and reactive maintenance activity. Ensures procedures and practices are followed and any exceptions are highlighted to minimise risk in all areas of legal & corporate responsibility.
Ideal Candidate
You will fit right into this role if you:
- Are an outstanding problem solver, capable of identifying and rectifying the root cause of the issue with a permanent solution
- Have experience of leading and coaching by example
- Are IT literate with good level of competence in key Microsoft packages (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
- Have a record of accomplishment of leading & improving safety within an Engineering function
- Have a minimum 2 years management/leadership experience
- Have experience in a FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) or similar manufacturing business (refrigeration experience would be an advantage)
- Have experience in Automated warehousing.

- Able to dive deep into downtime numbers to formulate achievable solutions to drive numbers down
- Some UK or international travel may be required to visit suppliers or other sites therefore a full UK driving licence would be required for this role.
