The Royal Ballet and Opera continues to lead the way in opera, ballet, music and dance both live on stage and through multiple digital platforms, from live streaming to worldwide cinema screenings. Our Covent Garden theatre has been at the heart of London and British cultural life for three centuries. We are home to two world-class Companies: The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera.

The Royal Opera House describes the place we work, not who we are. The whole is always more than the sum of its parts – we may be a House, but three quarters of our audiences experience what we do outside this building. While our Covent Garden theatre is the nerve centre, the impact and influence of the organisation can be felt in every corner of the country, and around the world.

Thanks to the role played by our Audiences & Commercial (A&C) division we continue to push boundaries and explore new ways to tell our stories, helping encourage people to attend live performances, watch screenings at the cinema or performances streamed online, or simply come in to enjoy the shop, bars, and restaurants in our iconic Covent Garden building.

Critical to success in this role is the ability to set clear direction, manage priorities and build strong relationships across the organisation – ensuring stakeholders are aligned on objectives, scope, timelines and budget, and that Studios delivers excellent and effective creative for a wide range of internal briefs.

Essential to the role, candidates will need to be able to demonstrate:

  • Significant experience leading creative teams to deliver organisational goals effectively.
  • Strong leadership capability: setting clear direction, defining standards, prioritising work and delivering within constraints (time, budget and resource)
  • Working knowledge of creative processes across design, imagery and AV, with an understanding of how these intersect with editorial/content creation
  • Working knowledge of production/delivery processes in a creative studio context
