About the Faculty 
The faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences, comprises the largest dental school in Europe and is a centre of excellence in the UK for oral craniofacial and dental research.  The faculty has an outstanding record for quality assurance in learning and teaching and is the premier place to study dentistry in the UK. About the role

The Centre for Oral, Clinical and Translational Sciences (COCTS) brings together clinical and discovery research efforts aimed at improving oral and dental health through research and innovation that leads to clinical translation.
 
We are looking for an outstanding academic to join the centre to strengthen research in artificial intelligence (AI) applied to oral and dental health. The post holder will develop innovative AI techniques approaches applied to oral healthcare, with a particular focus on Large Language Model-based multimodal data understanding and reasoning.
 
The post-holder will work closely with clinicians, discovery scientists, and other members of the AI unit within the Faculty of Dentistry, Oral and Craniofacial Sciences but there is considerable opportunity to build collaborative activities across King’s including through the Institute for Artificial Intelligence.
 
Members of COCTS have international reputations in mineralised tissue research, biomaterials, tissue engineering, device and diagnostic technology development, and clinical research. Strong educational support is provided to both undergraduate and postgraduate students and we seek to appoint an academic that will strengthen and diversify the capacity of the centre in both research and education. You will play a key role in developing and executing internationally leading research as an independent investigator working collaboratively with clinician-scientists and other groups of the dental AI unit. You will have extensive previous experience of leading such interdisciplinary activities and a strong understanding of the opportunities for innovation within Oral and Dental health.
 
Skills, knowledge and experience for this role:
•         A record of publication of high-quality research outputs in top-tier AI conferences in areas of machine learning, computer vision, and Large Language Models and high-impact specialist peer reviewed academic journals.
•         Ability to conduct interdisciplinary research activities and support clinically trained researchers.
•         Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
•         Evidence of leadership in your discipline and the ability to develop a research or teaching area. 
•         Motivated and self-disciplined
•         Ability to show common sense and good judgement
•         Ability to communicate complex ideas with others.
 
This is a full time (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite  contract.
