Are you ready to help make a significant impact in financial decision-making? As Assistant Management Accountant you will provide useful information to faculty managers to improve their decision-making, planning and control. In your role you’ll assist the Finance Business Partners and Senior Finance Business Partners in crafting strategic recommendations on pivotal financial decisions and offering advice that puts finance at the heart of decision making here at King’s.
 

About the role:

 
The role will provide support to the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences (NMES), King’s Business School (KBS), the Centre for International Education and Languages (CIEL) and King’s Academy (KA). This role will cover:
 
Collaborative Partnering: You will work alongside various faculties to ensure financial targets are met. You will assist the finance business partners to facilitate strategic decision-making within the areas they partner with.
 
Financial Guidance: You will provide support and advice to academic and professional staff to ensure King’s operational and commercial programmes are managed financially well. This includes delivering high-quality analysis and clear communication through monthly reporting and everyday interactions.
 
Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across King’s faculties, serving as the pivotal link between the Finance, Procurement, Strategic Planning and Analytics Directorate, and the areas you partner.
 
This is a full time (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About you:

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
 
Qualifications & Experience: A part-qualified accountant with experience in management accounting, including supporting budget holders to understand their management accounts. Having good experience in budget monitoring and variance analysis; in monthly reporting and forecasting; and ensuring the integrity of our financial information.
 
Methodical and Analytical: Maintaining a high attention to detail when processing and analysing financial information
 
Curious and Enthusiastic: Bringing a proactive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and a keen interest in continuous learning.
 
Essential criteria
  1. Professional Accountancy qualification (Part Qualified)
  2. Understanding of key Management Accountant responsibilities and principles.
  3. Confident working under pressure and to tight deadlines
  4. Methodical and detail-oriented, maintaining a high level of accuracy
  5. Ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders in a professional and assured manner
  6. Adaptable and flexible to organisational change, driving own professional development
  7. Proactive with the ability to work independently as well as delivering within a team
  8. Knowledge of HEI funding environment
  9. Experience of working with an accounting package, for financial processing and/or reporting. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages (particularly Excel) and the ability to work on new systems
  10. Experience of working effectively in collaboration with staff from different teams
