Audio Visual Engineer – Nashville, 37201, United States of America 

UMG is seeking an experienced AV Engineer to join our Technology organization. This role will provide technical ownership, architecture leadership, and standardization for enterprise audiovisual (AV) and collaboration environments across Universal Music Group. The AV Engineer will define global standards and reference designs for meeting spaces and collaboration solutions, partner with key stakeholders to align business requirements with technology capabilities, and ensure consistent, secure, and supportable AV experiences across sites.

Job Functions

  • Serve as the technical owner and engineer for UMG’s enterprise AV and unified collaboration environments.
  • Assess current AV deployments and drive standardization of room types, technology stacks, configuration baselines, and operating models.
  • Define and maintain AV standards, reference designs, and global build specifications for conference rooms, executive spaces, and specialty environments.
  • Design and support modern collaboration platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, or equivalent) including room compute, peripherals, control systems, and user experience standards.
  • Develop and maintain AV documentation including standards, runbooks, configuration guides, and knowledgebase articles.
  • Lead AV technology lifecycle management including hardware/software refresh planning, firmware strategy, and end-of-support remediation.
  • Partner with Network and Cybersecurity teams to ensure AV solutions meet UMG security, privacy, and network segmentation standards (e.g., device hardening, access controls, and monitoring readiness).
  • Collaborate with Facilities, Workplace, Real Estate, and business stakeholders to plan and deliver AV-enabled projects, renovations, and new site buildouts.
  • Review proposed AV solutions and designs to ensure quality, scalability, maintainability, and alignment with UMG technology standards.
  • Provide technical leadership for vendor selection, integrator engagement, statement-of-work reviews, acceptance testing, and handover to operations.
  • Serve as a high-tier escalation point for complex AV incidents, root cause analysis, and recurring issue remediation.
  • Develop and deliver training for engineering, implementation, and operations teams on AV standards, tools, and support workflows.
  • Support special events and critical business meetings as needed, ensuring reliable AV and collaboration experiences.
  • Ensure compliance with incident, problem, and change management procedures and standards aligned to ITIL practices.
  • Other tasks as deemed necessary or appropriate.

Job Requirements

Skills / Abilities:

  • AV/UC engineering expertise in enterprise environments.
  • Strong knowledge of conferencing and collaboration ecosystems (room systems, peripherals, and control).
  • Experience with AV over IP concepts and media transport fundamentals; strong grasp of audio/video signal flow.
  • Working knowledge of network fundamentals (VLANs, QoS, multicast basics) and how they impact AV/UC performance.
  • Ability to define standards, build repeatable designs, and drive global consistency across environments.
  • Experience with commissioning, acceptance testing, and operational handover processes.
  • Vendor and integrator management skills; ability to review SOWs, designs, and test plans.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities across hardware, software, and network-adjacent issues.
  • Ability to mentor and guide engineers; comfortable presenting to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Fluent in English (written and oral).

Certifications (Preferred):

  • AVIXA CTS / CTS-D / CTS-I
  • Microsoft Teams Rooms (or equivalent UC platform certifications)
  • Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp, or comparable manufacturer certifications
  • ITIL Foundation (helpful in operational environments)

Experience:

  • Experienced IT/AV professional with 7+ years overall experience and a minimum of 3 years in an AV Engineering, or Unified Collaboration Engineering role.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering standardized enterprise meeting room solutions at scale (multiple sites/regions).
  • Experience working with integrators and vendors to deliver projects from design through implementation and support transition.
  • Experience producing customer-facing and executive-level presentations and documentation.
