Communications and Training Officer (Information Governance) (CC13395) – Bath, BA2 7AY
As a key member of the newly formed Information Governance team, this role will help colleagues across the University to understand and apply effective information governance principles. You will support a culture where information is managed responsibly, confidently, and aligned with statutory and organisational requirements.
About the role
As the Communications and Training Officer you will design and deliver high quality training materials and communications that help staff use, manage and protect information in a compliant manner, whilst finding opportunities for value add activity.
This role is ideal for someone who loves creating content, enjoys variety, and wants to make a real difference across a large organisation.
In this role, you will:
- create and deliver engaging training on topics including data protection, records management, data quality and good information practice
- develop accessible learning and guidance materials like online learning modules, videos, webpages, articles and digital resources
- plan and deliver communications such as newsletters, blogs and email campaigns to raise awareness and support staff
- evaluate impact, gather feedback and continuously improve training and engagement activities relating to good information management
This role will help information governance be understood and embedded across the University. You will join a collaborative, specialist team committed to making information governance accessible, meaningful and practical for all our colleagues.
About you
We are looking for an excellent communicator with the ability to turn complex information into clear, practical guidance. This role requires someone who can help colleagues across the University understand and implement good information management practice with confidence.
Our ideal candidate is:
- an excellent communicator with strong written and verbal skills
- able to translate complex ideas into simple, engaging and actionable content
- experienced in designing and delivering training and communications within a large organisation
- confident using M365 tools (Word, Teams, SharePoint, Forms, etc)
- great at balancing multiple priorities, influencing stakeholders, and working organisation-wide
- skilled in producing a mix of formats (text, graphics, video, audio) to make engaging content
- proactive, driven and interested in improving processes and understanding user needs
This role would suit someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working collaboratively and is motivated by helping others.

Further information
This is a full-time role (36.5 hours per week) for a fixed-term period of 18 months.
This is a hybrid role with a primary base on the Claverton Down campus, however, there may be a need to make occasional visits to the University’s research, and other, facilities in Bristol, Swindon and elsewhere.
