Disability Confident Guaranteed Interview Scheme

Royal Surrey offers a Guaranteed Interview Scheme, which means that all disabled candidates who meet the essential criteria for a role are interviewed.

There may be occasions where it is not practicable or appropriate to interview all disabled people that meet the minimum criteria for the job, such as when a high number of applications is recieved. On these occasions, we will select the disabled candidates who best meet the minimum criteria for the job, rather than all of those that meet the minimum criteria.

After candidates are long-listed for a role, the Trust use a scoring system for assessing applications before candidates are shortlisted for interview.

Neurodiversity in Recruitment

At Royal Surrey we believe that we need all kinds of minds in order to work effectively. That means we actively encourage neurodiversity in the workplace, and can work with you to find a role in which you will thrive, and in which we will benefit from the skills and strengths you have to offer.

If you prefer not to disclose, you should feel comfortable and are not obligated to do so. But we hope you will not be afraid to talk about your neurodivergence in the interview. When preparing an application, think about any benefits that come along with your condition and celebrate them.

Support for staff at Royal Surrey

Royal Surrey offers a lot of support for staff who live with disabilities and neurodivergence. We have an Ability Passport, and a Neurodiversity Passport, which allows you to articulate your lived experience, and discuss any reasonable adjustments you need with your manager.

The Trust’s Disability & Wellness Network is run by staff, for staff and advocates for the needs of disabled and neurodivergent colleagues, as well as offering training, mentorship and networking opportunities.

Please see our Equality & Diversity page for more details.
