Are you a caring, enthusiastic and hard working person looking to make a big impact? We are looking for dedicated and caring Radiology Department assistants to support our brand new, state of the art Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) at Milford, Surrey. 

The CDC Is part of Royal Surrey’s continuing investment in its diagnostic capabilities and follows refurbishment of the Trust’s interventional suite, MRI and X-ray facilities

This is a patient focused role. You will assist out-patients during their time in the radiology department from transferring the patients to and from the departments, greeting them on arrival, assisting with their preparation for the examinations, and helping to provide a pleasant experience. 

You will also take on some admin roles which may include, booking patients in for the appointment, stock management and room preparation for both CT and MRI examinations. Training for all will be provided.

You should have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team. After a settling in period, you will be offered the opportunity to complete a cannulation course, which will allow you to progress to a band 3 position once competence has been confirmed.

The post holder will assist radiologists, radiographers and sonographers undertaking diagnostic and therapeutic examinations. 

The post holder will provide care for patients whilst maintaining a safe and clean environment.

The post holder will support a high quality clerical, portering, stock management and clinical support service when required to the Radiology Department.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 5 GCSEs (Grade A-C) including English and Maths, or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ level 2 or equivalent in healthcare

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within a busy team and managing time effectively.
  • Experience of providing good customer service.
  • Experience and knowledge of using computer software packages such as Word, Excel, Outlook.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a caring role.
  • Experience of working within a radiology department
  • Experience of communicating well with patients and relatives.
  • Experience and knowledge of ordering and maintaining stock.
  • Knowledge of patient privacy, dignity and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of infection control standards.
