Job Description
Due to recent project wins we are looking for a Senior Agent to join our London Gatwick’s Civils and building Frameworks . Working directly under the Project Director/Manager this role is to lead construction operations to ensure all elements are delivered safely, to the required quality, on time and within budget, all in line with the scheme design and associated GAL specifications. This will include managing a team of engineering staff and subcontractors, working alongside other disciplines (SHE, Stakeholder, Design/Engineering/Quality, Commercial etc.). Applicants with fit out, buildings MEP or Baggage experience preferred.
The role involves a scope verification phase for survey and design assurance followed by ECI detailed design and Construction. Tender support, procurement and construction phase planning will be required for framework tender support and NTP programme development.
Costain has been appointed on two construction frameworks to deliver London Gatwick’s Civils and Building Frameworks. These cover a range of Capital projects to upgrade and modernise the airports infrastructure, support growing passenger demand and enhance resilience. The frameworks will run for a four year period, with an option to extend by a further two years. We are looking to bring our experience in delivering infrastructure solutions and working closely with London Gatwick and our supply chain partners to deliver these essential infrastructure upgrades.
The works consist of:
- Highways landside and airside civils packages including, ECI, Detailed design, intrusive surveys and construction.
- Highways widening, resurfacing and TM phasing.
- Upgrades to drainage, lighting, signage and signalling.
- Baggage systems replacement and upgrades
- Buildings MEP and service install and updating

Responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Provide constructability support and manage all aspects of construction and detailed design delivery
- Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with The Costain Way.
- Put safety above all else and lead by example.
- Promote a Right First-Time approach to quality and avoid rework.
- Manage onsite team and collaborate with the client
- Support the Project Director/Manager in all construction matters including handover.
- Provide planning and procurement support, implementing product control and all related subcontract activities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential
- 7 years+ experience in construction delivery with 2 years+ in a management position (e.g. Agent)
- Knowledge and experience of relevant construction techniques, standards and procedures
- Experience of working within a Principal Contractor environment
- Knowledge and experience of Temporary Works procedures
- Behavioural Management training
Desirable
- Experience as a Lean Practitioner
- Understanding of handover processes
- Motorway environment construction experience
- Permit boking and access requirements in airport operational environment
Qualifications
Essential
- HNC/HND, degree qualified or experience in a planning related discipline
Desirable
- APM Project Management Qualification
- APMG Managing Successful Programmes – foundation level
- APMG International Project Planning and Control Practitioner or equivalent
- PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP)
- Construction or Engineering Professional Membership
