The Commercial Manager will be responsible for all activity including contracts review and negotiations, contractual pricing validation & commercial offerings for the B2B business units. The role includes managing the relationship with all other relevant business functions in specific relation to the commercial, contractual and financial offerings: Finance, HR, Legal, Marketing, Supply chain, Service and support.
The role is accountable for the governance of the assigned commercial contracts and ever evolving services offerings, identifying contractual risks and minimising contractual liabilities.
This role will identify gaps and opportunities in the existing commercial models and offerings and create and execute new models to support the channels shift to services and drive for improved profitability in new and existing contracts.
The role will measure and report on the key indicators of the commercial offerings and propositions with a focus and responsibility to profitability.
The role is responsible for managing the team in the commercial pillar of Commercial Operations.

What we ask
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a Team of consummate contract and commercial professionals leading and driving the Commercial pillar in the Commercial Operations function to be acknowledged and accepted across the business as the go to point for all commercial related queries and support.
- Day to day people management of the team that form part of the Commercial Pillar in the Commercial Operations team.
- The interpretation of contract requirements into delivery requirements & SLA’s for the assigned commercial contracts and offerings.
- Accountable for the risk, financial and contractual management of all commercial contracts, maintaining and improving on business case and profitability through themselves and the team of contract professionals.
- Produce and drive the commercial governance process through self and team with supporting departments and suppliers/partners.
- Develop and propose contractual governance models, process and strategy for the team.
- Ensure governance process is adhered to by supporting departments and suppliers/partners around all commercial matters in all channels.
- Drive the refinement of our processes to ensure we maximise our opportunities to monetise services through all stages of customer interaction.
- Lead the team of professionals in defining the negotiation way of working together with taking ownership (Team or Self) in contractual negotiations for large or complex deals, ensuring consistent governance across all deals negotiated by sales. Take direct responsibility (Team or Self) to negotiate contracts with customer (sales become support) and involve legal directly in negotiation when needed.
- Support the Product Marketing Organisation and the Head of Governance and Pricing in developing costing models to support new services and offerings by defining the appropriate commercial wrap.
- Work closely with the broader Commercial Operations Team to continuously, review gross margins and profitability of commercial offerings and look at ways to continuously improve.
- Control and regulation of the commercial offerings and profitability of the assigned business unit, driving sustainable growth across the B2B business, enabling enhanced performance and ensuring appropriate disciplines and controls are in place to protect the business.

- Internal: Business Unit Heads, Other Department Heads, Senior Sales Management Team, B2B Sales Managers, Finance Director/Controller, HR Subject Matter Experts, Service and Support Director & Service and Support Management Teams, Legal Department, Supply Chain Management Team, CEL Global Services Team.
- External: Relevant/Appropriate Customers, 3rd Party Supplier/Partners.

- In line with Senior Management for Commercial Operations

Personal Specification e.g. Technical skills, knowledge, experience required:
- Ideally from a commercial contracting background with strong technical knowledge, legal contracting understanding and able to demonstrate the ability to manage – complex contractual negotiations.
- Strong contract construction and negotiation experience.
- Manage through virtual teams whilst improving processes and controls.
- Natural leader who can develop a productive relationship senior colleagues across the channel and wider organisation, including CEL.
- Contracting experience in a similar role.
- Both business and commercially minded.
- Extensive experience of commercial contracting.
- Strong leadership skills and experience.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Commercial and contractual management experience including pricing.
