The People department has launched an ambitious Commissioning Transformation Programme and you will be part of the team that will implement the changes.  Ensuring that people in South Gloucestershire receive the support and services they need to live their lives as independently as possible, in the right setting and at affordable prices.

You will make a difference as a Commissioning Officer helping to improve the provision of care and support for people living in South Gloucestershire, by building strong partnerships especially with social care, housing and health service providers commissioned by the Council.  

Our Commissioning teams

  • The Specialist Team predominantly oversees commissioning work for learning difficulties, autism, mental health, mentoring and other important partnership work.  This includes the supporting the commissioning of our specialist provider framework, quality assurance of providers and other specialist contracts and partnership working. You may carry out quality assurance, contract management and partnership working with our commissioned services and or other work to support the team.       
  • In the VCSE team you will support the coproduction of new ways of working to deliver support for individuals.  You will also undertake day to day activity to commission and contract manage services delivered by independent and voluntary sector providers.  The role includes community engagement, i.e. engaging with service users (and their carers) and capturing their needs.  The post holder may also carry out research, lead small projects, facilitate our sensory impairment resident groups and work as part of the team on the Age friendly community plan.

What will you be doing?   

On a daily basis you will  build strong partnerships with social care, housing, Public Health and health colleagues and provider organisations, to meet our strategic commitments for all the posts.  While working collaboratively to support the development of the care provider market in South Gloucestershire to deliver department-wide commissioning priorities.

  • In this role you will be working with providers who are commissioned by the Council to provide support to vulnerable adults. 
  • It will be your responsibility to monitor contracts to ensure services are delivered and are meeting outcomes.
  • You will work in partnership with a wide range of partners so that we meet our strategic commitments.
  • It is important that you work in co-production with colleagues, partners, people who use services and carers to ensure the services we commission meet outcomes.
  • Using your experience and knowledge, you will support commissioning and partnership working for specific groups of people such as carers, older people or people with learning difficulties.
  • You will support the quality assurance of the services we commission.
