Grateley House School

 

We are an Independent Special Secondary School based just outside Andover, Hampshire.

 

Grateley House School is a successful, ‘good’ rated, 38-week residential special school for young people (age11-19) with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Conditions; typically, high functioning and/or associated disorders. We also have a house in Salisbury for our Post 16 students.

 

The school is currently made up of 35 students and is set to grow over the next three years, we offer a curriculum to students in Key Stage 3, 4 and 5. The school follows the National Curriculum and we support students to gain outcomes equivalent to mainstream.

 

Job Role

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a well-motivated and talented teacher to join our school.

 

We offer an extensive curriculum to our students and currently require an enthusiastic and committed teacher. You will take the lead for English and Literacy across the whole school.

 

You will have a flexible, creative and practical approach to learning and be responsible for developing individualised / small group programs. Class sizes are no more than 7 students, with dedicated TA support and you will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

 

Successful candidates will be a part of a supportive team who work across Education, Care and Therapeutic services supporting each other's practice to develop specialist services to those with additional and complex care needs including: Autism and associated difficulties. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to work alongside well trained, qualified professionals across our multidisciplinary team.

Candidate Profile

 

A good knowledge of the EnglishH National Curriculum, experience teaching up to GCSE level is essential. An understanding of the Autistic Spectrum Condition and/or experience of working with children/young people with additional needs is an advantage.
 

The ability, confidence and willingness to work proactively alongside other experienced colleagues to develop and lead Literacy through the school

 
Applicants must hold QTS or Equivalent – we are looking for a qualified experienced Teacher.

All new staff will be subject to enhanced DBS clearance, identity checks, qualification checks and employment checks to include an exploration of any gaps within employment, two satisfactory references and registration with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

 

Cambian will also conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not be on the appointment panel will conduct the search and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
