A salary market supplement of £5000.00 is applied to this post, taking the salary to £66,165 – £73,060 pa

In addition there is a secure unit allowance which is an additional £2583 per annum

Having experience of working at a senior level in a social care setting, you will be managing our 24 bedded secure children’s home in South Gloucestershire. Vinney Green is a secure children’s home with young people who have been remanded or sentenced to custody by the courts and will need support and intervention in a safe and caring environment, where they experience quality care, rehabilitation, education, vocational and life skills training. This is provided by a multi-disciplinary team of care education and health professionals.

What will you be doing?

  • You will be responsible for maintaining and improving the service provision and performance in an Ofsted regulated setting and developing the strategic policy in a collaborative partnership with other agencies and professionals in line with national legislation, the Youth Custody Service contract, as well as establishing links with the Welfare Co-ordination unit to provide accommodation for young people looked after in accordance with section 25 of the Children Act 1989. 
  • In the role you will ensure that all children within the home are supported and cared for and take the lead to provide an effective delivery of services, that safeguard and provide excellent welfare of our children with evidence-based looked after approaches.
  • You will be leading and directing all services within the home, establishing, monitoring and evaluating standards of service and performance against legislation, national and local outcomes and targets, taking action where necessary to ensure high quality performance and good outcomes.
  • Responsible for all business, operational and financial strategic planning for the home, you will make sure that resources and staffing are used effectively and efficiently, and that financial monitoring and review mechanisms are in place.
  • Promoting a positive staff culture is key, so you will provide strong leadership, direction and clarity of decision-making and ensure that all staff are supported and clear about the values, ethos and their responsibilities and are motivated to deliver a high-quality child focused service.
  • In the role you will develop and build effective strategic and operational relationships across departments, external agencies and partnerships to meet the statutory requirements of the service and ensure necessary collaborative arrangements are in place to achieve good outcomes for children and young people, taking action to remedy any issues.
