About the role

Are you looking for a Senior Social Worker role? Do you thrive in a fast paced, multi-agency environment?

If the answer is “Yes” then this might be just the role for YOU!

The North Transfer of Care Team are looking for a full time Senior Social Worker, working predominantly from Hinchingbrooke Hospital.  The service also covers Peterborough City and King’s Lynn (Queen Elizabeth) Hospitals for Cambridgeshire residents and will therefore require the successful applicant to occasionally support these sites.

You will join a group of supportive Senior Social Workers and be part of the management team.

The team provide support to adults being discharged from the acute hospital and rehabilitation settings.

The Transfer of Care Teams operate within specific office hours, but that does not mean we will not consider flexible working opportunities. Our staff receive a salary enhancement between 7% and 15% depending on their selected working pattern.

  • 7% for 1 weekend day a month and 1 Bank Holiday a year
  • 8% for 1 weekend day a month and 2 Bank Holidays a year
  • 10% for 1 weekend day a month and 3 Bank Holidays a year
  • 15% for 2 weekend days a month and 3 Bank Holidays a year

Interview will be held virtually on Teams from 5th to 7th March.  There will be a short written exercise as part of the interview but we’ll give you all of the relevant information ahead of time.  

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

About you

You must be a qualified social worker with at least 2 years’ experience and ideally have experience managing people.  You will have worked with a complex caseload and have excellent knowledge of current legislation which will include the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act and the associated statutory guidance.  You will have proven knowledge and skills for Safeguarding Adults.   

You will be a person-centred practitioner with excellent communication skills and have the ability to work within a multidisciplinary setting. You will be imaginative, dynamic and an excellent communicator with the ability to influence the workings of other services.

This is a fast-paced environment and the successful candidate should be able to work with competing demands for services.
