We are looking for a Senior Sustainability Manager based out of our Birmingham office (although we are flexible on location) working on a hybrid basis. This role will be responsible for developing and leading the sustainability strategy, targets and actions across Tarmac. Visiting our sites across the UK you will successfully engage and influence senior stakeholders across multiple functions including Operations, Commercial, Procurement, Logistics and Finance. Whether you are based in Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Sheffield or London, if you enjoy operating on a nationwide basis then this could be the role for you!

Reporting to the Sustainability Director the Senior Sustainability Manager will lead cross functional teams to drive delivery of the sustainability strategy. Assisting the Sustainability Director you will utilise your expertise and propose and agree strategic priorities with Excom and be responsible for implementing the processes and reporting (internal and external) as well as managing objectives, targets & KPIs.

The role of Senior Sustainability Manager will also be responsible for:

  • Working with the Senior Manager (Decarbonisation) to ensure alignment with Tarmac and CRH decarbonisation activities
  • Reporting and presenting on sustainability performance internally and externally, including the GRI Annual Sustainability report
  • Representing Tarmac on trade and other bodies on relevant sustainability issues
  • Ensuring Tarmac is aware of emerging opportunities and steps are taken to optimise
  • Early identification of upcoming sustainability and environmental regulations which impact the business and responding appropriately
  • Implements training and both internal and external communications strategies
  • Working in partnership with the Sustainable Construction Manager to understand required Standards and ensure we have required certifications, information and tools available to deliver against them
  • Designing and implementing sustainability training and awareness programmes
  • Leading, supporting and developing the Sustainability Data & Performance Analyst and Sustainability Advisor

 

The ideal candidate for the role of Senior Sustainability Manager will possess strong knowledge of UK sustainability regulations and policies and working knowledge of sustainability issues relevant to construction products, supply chain, operations & markets.

Suitable candidates for the role of Senior Sustainability Manager will also have:

  • Proactive approach to optimising processes to ensure more efficient and effective delivery
  • Confidence to effectively challenge senior stakeholder both internally and externally

  • Proven ability to understand and assess complex technical issues and manage effectively
  • Adaptability to listen, question, react and respond to change
  • Confident in people management, coaching and development of staff
  • Proven self starter, able to effectively manage own time and work autonomously
