Cambian Purbeck View School is situated directly on the Dorset coast in the seaside town of Swanage which is a wonderful place to live. The school and attached children’s home accommodates up to 40 young people aged 7-19. All our young people have a diagnoses of AS or ASD and associated complex needs. About the role:
As a Teaching Assistant at Purbeck View School, you will work as part of a team under the direction of a teacher/tutor assisting students to access a specifically designed curriculum through group learning and individual learning programmes.
The main focus of this role will be to:
Support students to focus and make progress in lessons.
Assist the teacher/tutor in the preparation of work.
Support students during school based and community-based learning.
Ensure students make progress in formal learning situations as well as with self-help skills, life skills and social understanding.
What we are looking for:
A Teaching assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
Knowledge of autism and/ or Special educational needs.
Well-developed organisation and communication skills.
Ability to work flexibly in relation to tasks undertaken.
Ability to be a good team player.
Experience not essential, we will give you all the training and support necessary.
Fully supported 6 month probationary period- You will receive a mentor and line manager to help you get the best start to your career at Purbeck View School
